Downtown Johnson City
A City's downtown offers a reflection of the heart of a community. While commercial growth will invariably occur in a municipality's suburbs, an attractive and thriving downtown reflects an area's foundation and character, and sometimes affords even a diversified city a sense of "place". We are advocates and active participants in the redevelopment and revitalization of our region's downtowns. (Duke Hall serves as Chaiman of the Board of the Johnson City Development Authority or JCDA. Michael Green is a Board Member.) We support the organizations listed in their noble efforts toward this goal.
JCDA - The Johnson City Development Authority
This non-profit organization is active in promoting economic development and real estate investment in downtown Johnson City. The group is currently assisting a number of developers with strategic planning, the implementation of tax increment financing, a community loan program, and acquisition of enhancement grants promoting transportation improvements downtown. DNA-Downtown Neighborhood Association of Johnson City
This non-profit association is active in promoting a quality environment for residents and businesses in the downtown district. DNA is a grass roots organization, which also serves as liaison to the Community Affairs Department at the City of Johnson City. Contact DNA at the following link: www.downtownjc.org
Friends of Olde Downtowne
This organization was formed six years ago to advance the causes of local businesses and property owners in the downtown district. The Friends of Olde Downtowne has since evolved into a proactive group of merchants and residents that take pride and significant personal time to make downtown a cleaner, safer, and more attractive environment for living, working and playing. To that end, the Friends of Olde Downtowne are the sponsors of Johnson City's Blue Plum Festival, a three day community event that brings live music, food, arts, and sporting events to downtown in a festive, open-air atmosphere that has a million dollar economic impact on the local economy.
